Animal instincts
It has often been argued that there is no existence of homosexuality in the animal kingdom. And because of this, many religious proponents like to say that homosexuality isn’t natural, that God didn’t intend for humans to be that way.
They say, “Do you see animals doing that? No! It’s not natural. It’s not normal. It’s blah blah blah.”
Well … now I say, “On the contrary, my friend!” ( I didn’t know how to spell the French version … say la vie!)

Gay animals out of the closet?
First-ever museum display shows 51 species exhibiting homosexuality
From male killer whales that ride the dorsal fin of another male to female bonobos that rub their genitals together, the animal kingdom tolerates all kinds of lifestyles.
A first-ever museum display, “Against Nature?,” which opened last month at the University of Oslo’s Natural History Museum in Norway, presents 51 species of animals exhibiting homosexuality.
“Homosexuality has been observed in more than 1,500 species, and the phenomenon has been well described for 500 of them,” said Petter Bockman, project coordinator of the exhibition.
The idea, however, is rarely discussed in the scientific community and is often dismissed as unnatural because it doesn’t appear to benefit the larger cause of species continuation.
“I think to some extent people don’t think it’s important because we went through all this time period in sociobiology where everything had to be tied to reproduction and reproductive success,” said Linda Wolfe, who heads the Department of Anthropology at East Carolina University. “If it doesn’t have [something to do] with reproduction it’s not important.” ~ MSNBC
Reproduction? That’s the basis of homosexuality being unnatural? I’m a woman … I can still reproduce if I want to. There are ways around it. Even so, what if the reason that God created homosexuals is to regulate reproduction? Just a thought.
Here’s another thought. God created all walks of life, right? Most of us agree on that. And, continuing with this line of thinking, we all know God doesn’t make mistakes. Everything has its purpose. Even homosexuals.
Every argument that I have ever heard against homosexuality has been countered and discounted again and again. The whole “abomination” thing is played out. We all know the Bible is open to interpretation.
And as far as the argument, “if God created homosexuality, then why aren’t there gay animals” goes …
Well, I think I’ve just made a case against that one too. Don’t you think?
My only piece of advice is that just because homosexuality exists in humans as well as in animals, you shouldn’t mix the two … right, Adri?
