To all my sporty lesbians out there, I know you feel my pain. I’m home today with a sprained ankle that has ballooned twice its size and is the result of a hustle play during a recreational league soccer game I played last night. It hurts like a biotch. But at least we won the game.

I am writing to you all from the comfort of my couch. It’s cozy. There’s snow on the ground, a warm cup of Joe at my side and world of GLBT news at my disposal. So, let’s get to it.

Fair play.

I’m a believer. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, right? Or something like that … what I am trying to say is that I found a piece of news this morning that I felt the need to write about simply because I’ve written about it from the other side … the Republican side that is.

Let me explain.

It’s no secret to those of you who read this blog on a regular basis that I often talk about Republicans or religious right proponents spouting anti-gay rhetoric only to be caught in a homosexual sex scandal of their own. *Cough* Senator Craig *Cough*

Excuse me, had to clear my throat a little bit there. Anyway. Here’s a look at the other side.

Democratic Aide In Underage Sex Sting

(Washington) A former aide to Sen. Maria Cantwell is in federal custody after being arrested on a charge of attempting to sexually exploit a minor.

James Michael McHaney was fired Friday from his job as a scheduler for Cantwell, D-Wash., hours after he was arrested by FBI agents. The FBI said in a charging document that McHaney allegedly tried to set up a meeting with an undercover witness posing online as a teenage boy.

McHaney, who appeared in federal court Saturday, was being held without bond pending a court hearing Wednesday, said Channing Phillips, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office for the District of Columbia.

According to court papers, McHaney, known as Mike, tried to arrange a lunchtime meeting with an unidentified person posing as a 13-year-old boy. When the witness asked whether McHaney was interested in sex with a 13-year-old, McHaney allegedly replied, “I’ll be there,” the court papers said. He later asked for a photo of the child.

News of the arrest was first reported on The Smoking Gun Web site, http://www.smokinggun.com .

Congressional records show McHaney had worked as a scheduler in Cantwell’s Washington, D.C., office since at least July 2006. ~ 365gay.com

Like I said, I’m a believer in fair play. And it’s only fair that I give the Democrats a tongue lashing here for getting caught doing the same thing as some Republicans and Evangelists do. I think that I have been more inclined to lash out when I read about Republicans or Evangelists doing this however, because they are usually the ones flying off at the mouth about morals and the Bible and the evils of homosexuality. The hypocracy urks me to no end. But, at the same time, that doesn’t give me the right to give Democrats a pass. They may not be a hypocrits, but they are still in the wrong.

What it comes down to for me is the fact that I can’t fully get behind any political party. There’s too much dishonesty. Too many hidden agendas.

And, as it seems lately, far too many incidents like the one mentioned above.
