Gay disease?
I think not.

For all of those Bible waving fools who profess that HIV and AIDS is a gay disease that originated through gay sex, I’ve got some startling news for you. In case you weren’t already aware, that little theory is not only absurd, it has now been scientifically proven to be wrong.
Don’t believe me?
National Geographic ~ When AIDS was officially recognized in 1981 in the U.S., for instance, the unusually high prevalence of the disease in Haitian immigrants fueled speculation that the Caribbean island was the source of the mysterious illness.
Another theory held that the AIDS epidemic spread from the U.S. in the mid-1970s after Haiti became a popular destination for sex tourism.
Scientists led by Michael Worobey, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Arizona, Tucson, tried to solve the puzzle by tracing back the family history of the virus subtype blamed for the epidemic in North America.
The findings suggest that native Haitians carried the disease back to their island from Africa soon after the virus’s emergence there. READ MORE
As we all know, HIV is transmitted through the use of dirty needles, unprotected sex and infected blood (transfusions). It can be contracted by men and women off all races, creeds and sexual orientation. It isn’t a “gay” disease. It’s a disease period.
I find it amusing that these scientific studies are emerging one after the other, disproving theories that some religious proponents base their entire homophobic ideology on. They preach that homosexuality is not natural, that God did not intend it. Yet, it has been proven to be innate in animals as well.
What else do we have to do to prove our point? The “gay disease” theory is bunk. The fact that homosexual tendencies exist in other species more than proves that being gay isn’t a choice. And now there are gay-gene studies popping up all over the place, researching the fact that humans are, in fact, born gay.
And still, the radical Christian right keeps on preaching.
I’m beginning to think that they know that the foundation in which they base their prejudice is starting to crumble. There are so many holes, you’d think it was Swiss cheese. How close-minded does one have to be in order to ignore the contradictions? How blind does one have to be in order to not see what is right in front of them? The facts are there, the proof is there.
And still … they keep on preaching.
