The guy I’d go straight for

by

OK. I’m going to put myself out on a limb here and reveal a little secret to you, the reader. Normally, I prefer to keep my secrets close to my vest without the slightest hint or possibility of revealing them. But this particular secret isn’t really a secret to those who know me best. So I figure that sharing it with you, dear reader, wouldn’t be that big of a deal. All I ask is that you don’t judge me or make certain assumptions based on what I am about to say. Well, here goes …

You know how some women are often asked jokingly who they’d go “gay” for? Among the most popular answers are Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Britney Spears (pre-shaved head, no panties wearing, I eat at Mickey Dee’s five times a week, I’m married to K-fed days) and Jessica Alba. I’ve seen this question asked on VH1’s hottest celebrities (or something of the sort) kind of shows. I’ve always been amused by people’s answers and wondered what the show would be like if you gathered a bunch of lesbians together and asked them who they’d go “straight” for. I know who I’d go “straight” for …

Before I get to that, however, I’m going to clarify a few things. Number one, I’m a lesbian and always will be. I love women (my girlfriend especially) and always will. I plan on spending my life with another woman (if all goes as planned, this would also involve said girlfriend). With that being said, I can freely admit that I still find men attractive. Though I may not want to sleep with any of them, I can still appreciate the well-toned bodies, tanned skin, slight stubble below the chin, well-dressed outfits, and incredibly handsome faces of certain men. I’m not a man hater, nor have I ever been. I dated men before I came out. In fact, I had two long term relationships with men. My first love was with a man and I still love him to this day (platonically of course).

So, when I think about the “guy” I’d go straight for, it isn’t really a stretch for me. He’s not only easy on the eyes but he’s also uber talented and I love his voice. I noticed him way back when he was just a little kid on a popular Disney television show. Then he grew up a little bit, dyed his hair platinum and joined a boy band. This is where I fell in love with him. My infatuation grew as his career grew. I judged all of his girlfriends, maybe too harshly, and even forgave him when he was involved in one of the biggest FCC incidents in television history. He has since gone solo, has had two widely successful albums, been in a couple of movies and has toured the world showing off his melodic pipes and smooth dance moves. Do you know who I’m talking about? Well, if you haven’t figured it out yet, here goes nothing. The guy that I’d go straight for is …

(drum roll please)

Justin Timberlake

Sigh. I can’t help it, I think he’s sexy. Of course, I’d be just as happy if JT and I were buddies. Maybe if I polished up my dance moves a little, he’d take me on tour with him!

So there it is, the guy I’d go straight for. What about you? Is there a guy you’d go straight for?

Hahahahahahaha! Oh, not him! No wonder it took you so long for the reveal. Just kidding.

Here’s the deal. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. I’m 99% gay. I reserve the one percent for my crush on Jimmy Smits.

    ;-)

Jimmy Smits … really? HA, this is so fun! Secrets reveled!

  3. Deb Says:

Si, Jimmy Smits. When he was on NYPD Blue, I was looking at him instead of Kim Delaney. Wait. I think I was eyeing them both!

  4. Heather Says:

Good choice, Lyndsey! Of course you know I love me some NSync, so I support this choice whole heartedly.

I really have nothing to add to the discussion since I’m straight and all, but I just wanted to give the thumbs up to JT. :)

Haha I actually expected a somewhat different guy to be who you were talking about…but hey we do all have our own tastes…hmmm if I went gay for any woman it would have to be like jennifer aniston shes gorgeous! and i truly believe that you can really appreciate a different sex than you are attracted to and in turn be somewhat attracted to them although its in a much different way.

    Victoria,

I agree, you totally can appreciate the opposite sex. And Jennifer Aniston is a good choice!

  7. Salote Says:

Justin Timberlake eh? I actually chuckled by the time I got down to the big drum roll. :) But seriously, I can see why you’d go straight from him. So, a great choice indeed. :)

  8. Rebecca Says:

I can’t believe everyone is overlooking one of the most talented and gorgeous men in Hollywood - maybe that’s because he’s Welsh and stays away from the press. Christian Bale is the guy I’ve had a huge crush on since I was 9 and he was in Empire of the Sun. Beautiful, talented and with an accent.

  9. Jenn Says:

Mwa haha! Yes, I do like this. Thanks for coming by and alerting me. Justin has secret powers :)

And wow, we haven’t seen those earrings on him in a long time, that’s for sure.

  10. Jenn Says:

I agree completly with Victoria. As a straight woman, I can still find many women sexy, attractive, alluring, hot, what have you. I think that’s what makes a woman so much more in tune with her sexuality. She can be a hetrosexual and still see beauty in the female sex.

And, really are we all forgetting about Jessica Alba? I would go gay for her in a second. Her or Natalie Portman, now she’s smart ans sexy.
